ZRCC’s Bio-Jet Fuel Makes Its Debut on Domestically Developed Commercial Aircraft

On June 5, a C919 and an ARJ21, both domestically developed commercial aircraft, fueled by ZRCC's bio-jet fuel took off from DOY, Shandong and PVG, Shanghai respectively. After one hour flight, they successfully returned the departure airport. The successful test flight verified the compatibility and safety of domestic bio-jet fuel and domestically developed commercial aircraft.

The bio-jet fuel was produced from wasted cooking oil, using the technology independently developed by Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP).

Previously, ZRCC's bio-jet fuel has been applied to Boeing and Airbus models, the successful test flight in April 2013 marked China as the fourth country with its own bio-jet fuel technology in the world. Then Sinopec is the first enterprise in Asia owns such technology.

ZRCC vice president Hong Bo attended the 6th China Green Commercial Aircraft Day and SAF(Sustainable Aviation Fuel) Forum during the event.
