As of April 10, 2014, the first domestic-made propylene compressor had been operated in the olefin division of ZRCC for 4 years. During the 4 years, the compressor had been running well with normal indexes, which marks that China has reached the world-class level in the field of ethylene plant compressor.

In 2006, the National Development and Reform Commission put forward an objective to improve the localization level of petrochemical equipment aiming at Three Compressors of 1000KTA ethylene plant. ZRCC and Shenyang Blower Works Groups jointly took the task of develop the first domestic propylene compressor. On April 10, 2010, the propylene compressor made in China was put into service successfully and all indicators met the design requirements.

In order to ensure the safe and stable operating of the compressor, ZRCC carried out a special maintenance procedure. Many problems were solved successively, such as popping-up of 2^nd stage thermowells, coupling nut being disconnected from the body in quick closing valve of steam turbine, joint leakage of the tap line on turbine body, pressure upset at the compressor outlet, etc., thus the reliability and operating potential have been increased gradually. In the compressor localization appraisal meeting of 2013, this compressor got the unanimous approval of the experts; it’s believed that the performance had reached the world-class level. At the same year, this project was awarded the first prize of Science & Technology Progress of Sinopec.
