China's
Bio-jet
Fuel
Test
Flight
Successful
At
7.08
am
of
April
24,
an
airbus
A320
owned
by
China
Eastern
Airlines
landed
smoothly
at
Shanghai
Hongqiao
International
Airport
after
completing
a
1.5
hours
flight
with
the
Sinopec
1#
bio-jet
fuel
as
the
power
source.
“The
biofuel
produced
enough
power
during
the
test
flight,
the
fuel
supply
is
very
good
and
the
fuel
consumption
is
very
low,"
said
by
the
pilot
Liu
Zhimin.
This
is
the
first
commercial
airliner
test
flight
using
Sinopec’s
biofuel
developed
in-house.
The
successful
test
flight
signs
that
China
is
now
the
fourth
country
in
the
world
to
own
the
biofuel
process
technology
developed
in-house,
following
the
US,
France
and
Finland.
The
bio-jet
fuel
is
produced
by
Zhenhai
Refining
and
Chemical
Company
from
palm
oil
and
recycled
cooking
oil.
Compared
with
the
traditional
petroleum-based
fuels,
the
bio-jet
fuel
can
effectively
reduce
the
CO2
emission,
which
has
a
significant
meaning
to
control
the
greenhouse
effect.
