World 1st On-line Water Flushing of Spiral-wound Heat Exchanger Successful at ZRCC
On February 6, the initial on-line water flushing test for the spiral-wound heat exchanger of 3000KTA diesel hydrotreating unit (DHTU) of ZRCC achieved successful result, which marked a ground-breaking moment in on-line water flushing of this kind of equipment in the world.
This spiral-wound heat exchanger of 3000KTA DHTU is the first application of this kind of equipment in China, and was put into service in June, 2011 with total heat transfer area of 2218 m2 and total weight of 129.44 ton. Being affected by long term operation, the heat transfer efficiency of this equipment was decreasing, and the unit had to lower the feed to maintain the operation. Since the heat-exchanger can’t be dismantled to be flushed and maintained due to its integral configuration, ZRCC technicians injected the condensate (with temperature around 80℃) directly to the tube side for flushing without unit shut-down based on simulation calculation. After two days flushing, the heat transfer efficiency recovered to its normal level.
